Police say they have released a suspect in the rape of a 19-year-old Sunday in Canarsie after witnesses did not pick him out of a lineup.
An unidentified black man in his 20s allegedly forced the teen into an alley on Rockaway Parkway at gunpoint before sexually assaulting her, according to officials.
The suspect was wearing a white tank top and blue Hawaiian shorts.
Surveillance video from a nearby store appears to show a man matching the police description of the suspect walking in the neighborhood moments before the attack.
A police source tells News 12 that the person of interest is a Canarsie resident. Community activists have called for increased police presence in the neighborhood to deter crime.
