Suspended Newburgh school superintendent receives educational achievement award

A suspended school superintendent in Orange County who is under investigation for alleged sexual harassment is now the recipient of a national education achievement award.
Dr. Roberto Padilla accepted the 2021 national TRIO Achiever award as the superintendent of Newburgh Schools from the Council for Opportunity in Education last month.
Padilla has been suspended since August during two open investigations into alleged workplace sexual harassment.
News 12 reached out to the Newburgh school district and the organization for comment but has not heard back.
