Several Greenwich residents have reported receiving suspicious Lifelock notifications claiming property purchases had been made in their names.

Greenwich police say the alerts have raised concerns about possible identity theft and unauthorized real estate transactions. Authorities say the town has received multiple inquiries from residents who received the notifications.

Police noted that Greenwich operates its own land records fraud alert service and does not use Lifelock to monitor property transactions or issue land records fraud alerts.

Residents are urged not to click unfamiliar links or provide personal or financial information. Anyone who receives an unexpected property purchase or transfer notification should verify it through official channels and contact the Greenwich Town Clerk's Office to confirm any reported transaction. Police also recommend monitoring financial accounts, credit reports and property records for suspicious activity.

Anyone who believes they may have been targeted should contact their local police department.
