Reports of at least one suspicious package delayed the start of the school day for hundreds of students in Belmont.
The NYPD's bomb squad arrived at the scene on Washington Avenue and East 188th Street at around 8:30 a.m., and gave the all-clear shortly after.
Students were not allowed to head directly into the classrooms, and were instead held at nearby playgrounds while police investigated.
An NYPD school safety officer says that two suspicious packages were found in front of a school. However, it's unclear which school as there are several located in the area, including the Belmont Preparatory School and M.S. 254.
