The New York State Federation of Taxi Drivers is calling on the city for help after several attacks and robberies against their drivers.
One driver is currently recovering in Kings County Hospital after being stabbed Saturday in Bushwick. The suspect got away with the driver's phone and cash.
The federation says this type of crime is on the rise, with four of these incidents happening throughout the city just this past week.
The federation is calling on the mayor and police commissioner to ramp up patrols during the early morning hours, when most of these attacks happen.
The federation is also asking taxi drivers to limit the amount of illegal hails they take, as well as the amount of pickups they make early in the morning.
