Thousands laced up their sneakers and headed to Prospect Park Saturday morning to raise awareness for ovarian cancer.
More than 2,000 people from throughout the tri-state area marched at the Bandshell at Prospect Park, some with signs in hand, as part of the sixth annual T.E.A.L. (Tell Every Amazing Lady) Walk/Run. They celebrated the courage of ovarian cancer survivors and showed their support for them.
Officials say the event is the city's largest ovarian cancer walk, meant to raise money and awareness of the disease.
Officials say ovarian cancer has no effective screening test and will claim the lives of about 15,500 women nationwide this year.
