A 17-year-old teen is dead following a police-involved shooting in Bushwick overnight.
Police say 17-year-old Antwain White and a 15-year-old accomplice attempted to rob a 50-year-old off-duty NYPD detective on Grove Street as he walked to his police precinct for his shift.
Officials say the detective was beaten by White with a wooden cane until the detective pulled his gun and identified himself as a police officer.
The detective fired one shot, striking White, after White lurched toward the detective, according to officials.
Investigators say the 15-year-old suspect fled while the detective stayed with White until an ambulance arrived. White was pronounced dead at the hospital.
The 15-year-old accomplice turned himself in, according to police.
