A College Avenue landlord, labeled "the worst landlord in the city" by the city's public advocate, was back in housing court today while tenants testified against him, claiming that their apartments are crumbling and rodent-infested.
The landlord, Eli Abbott, has indicated that he will fight the charges in court, instead of posting a $100,000 bond to allow the city to supervise the repairs to his three buildings.
Tenants testified about broken windows, leaking ceilings and missing appliances.
Residents are hoping the court will appoint an administrator to collect rent to be used to make immediate repairs to their apartments.
