There are a lot of unhappy tenants in stabilized units across New York City on Thursday morning.
The Rent Guidelines Board approved a rent increase on Wednesday, the second such increase in as many years.
One-year leases will see an increase of 3%, while two-year leases will see increases of 2.75% for the first year and 3.2% for the second.
The mayor's office issued a statement, saying "finding the right balance is never easy, but I believe the board has done so this year — as evidenced by affirmative votes from both tenant and public representatives.”
Angry tenants drowned out comments from board members during Wednesday's meeting with chants "housing is a human right."
