There's a new push to change the name of the Gov. Mario M. Cuomo Bridge.

Assemblyman Mike Lawler has once again introduced legislation to change the span's name back to the Tappan Zee.

The Republican state lawmaker was joined by Rockland County Executive Ed Day and Rob Astorino, the former Westchester County executive who is now taking another shot at the governor's seat.

It would take 76 votes in the Assembly and 32 in the Senate plus the governor's signature, which Astorino vows to do if elected to office.

Lawler's push comes as former Gov. Andrew Cuomo may be considering another run at the office after leaving last year amid multiple issues, including alleged sexual harassment and mishandling of nursing homes.

"The fact that it remains on that bridge after he resigned in disgrace should really be the No. 1 reason why we should take that name off," says Astorino.

Lawler says both sides of the aisle support this effort, but time will tell if the bill has enough behind it this time.

"We cannot wait any longer. The Cuomo name must come off this bridge," says Lawler.
