Are you getting excited about saving money on Black Friday?
News 12's consumer reporter Janice Lieberman has the shopping strategy we need to get through the holidays.
You could save up to 30% on Black Friday deals if you know how to shop. And this year, the sales are dropping early to get you to shop more and sooner.
Before you get carried away - set a budget and stick to it.
Check prices before Black Friday. Price comparison apps like Shop Savvy and Red Laser will search multiple retailers to help you find the lowest price. You can use them before you hit the pavement, or at the actual store -- and use it to try to get the retailer to price match. The sites also alert you to when an item is back in stock.
Bookmark pages ahead of time and get price check alerts.
You may catch a great sale now - but make sure you check with the retailer to see if they have price match guarantees so you can get an adjustment if the price drops on Black Friday. But not all are the same. Target is generous with its price matches, some stores will only match from their online stores and sometimes only at time of purchase. And depending on the store, price matches can only be made from select retailers. So, if you find something cheaper on websites like Amazon, some retailers will not match their price.
Check the return policies. You could always return if you find it cheaper elsewhere. Return polices should be generous - but you need to ask.
Use your credit card that offers the most points, so you can redeem them later for travel or cash back.
Use sites like Rakuten, Befrugal, and Ibotta to get some cash for your purchases.
