'Their perspective is invaluable': Children reporters cover the coronavirus, election as part of Scholastic program

24ds agoScholastic is providing a group of young reporters the opportunity to tell their stories and have them published.
Nora Onovo, an 11-year-old from the Bronx, is just one of 45 students chosen for the program this year.
"We write about stuff going on in our community and around the world like the coronavirus or the political election," Onovo says.
Editor of Scholastic Kids Press Suzanne McCabe says that the kid reporters are "always ahead of curve and always thinking about issues that may not be on adults' minds."
"Their perspective is invaluable," McCabe says.
Onovo was excited to be chosen for a program that she had already known about.
"I'm covering the political election and my church is actually a center where you go vote and I'm looking forward to go and talking and interviewing people there," Onovo says.
Theodora Bradley of Brooklyn and two other children from New York City also are part of the program.
