A December fire in Flatbush left 13 families displaced, along with three civilians and one firefighter injured. Now, those tenants are revealing the fire’s damages and showing why they’re frustrated with management.

There have been four fires at 80 Clarkson Ave. in the last decade. The FDNY sent 168 firefighters to put out the fire that broke out on Dec. 16.
Nigel Gall is a resident of 80 Clarkson Ave. and says the fire damage is more prevalent now than ever before.
“These are not livable conditions,” said Gall. “Nobody should have to live in a place where you have to wear a mask to breathe safely.”
Gall adds that the building has no sprinklers, and fellow tenant Cynthia says she did not hear any fire alarms go off when the fire took place.
Clarissa Young, who has lived in the building for 42 years, says she struggles with the fact that management has left her in the dust.
“I need more from them,” said Young. “I’ve lived here this long, and this is how they treat us.”
News 12 has reached out to property management and is awaiting their response.
