Neighbors in the Throgs Neck community say one resident has been feeding pigeons and creating havoc for over 15 years–causing hazardous conditions for many nearby.
David Casciello says it’s a daily routine and that he’s been serving the animals for at least 15 years outside his home. "I do enjoy it, but I also do feel like an obligation you know as a human being,” said Casciello.
Bird seeds scatter not only his yard but also the sidewalk. Neighbors say the daily feasts cause chaos.
"This is not Jurassic Park, this is not the Bronx Zoo,” a resident tells News 12.
Neighbors say they’ve asked him repeatedly to stop but that he refuses. Casciello says he tries to clean up.
The Department of Health says it's aware of the community concerns. It is urging New Yorkers not to feed pigeons.
It added that property owners are not required to clean pigeon conditions from their property.
