More than 20,000 people participated in Sunday's Making Strides Against Breast Cancer Walk in Coney Island – now in its 22nd year.

"Knowing that you have so many supporters around you, whether it's family friends or strangers – it’s amazing," said Latashia Agelink, a seven-year breast cancer survivor.

Participants walked three to five miles along the Coney Island boardwalk.

According to the American Cancer Society, one in eight women will be diagnosed with breast cancer in their lifetime. Breast cancer is the most common cancer in women in the United States, except for skin cancers.

More than 316,950 women and 2,800 men will be diagnosed with breast cancer this year.
