One northbound lane on the Throgs Neck Bridge remained closed Saturday after a fire broke out under the bridge the day before.
The fire that engulfed a construction platform under the bridge early Friday morning paralyzed roadways in the Bronx and in Queens for several hours. Officials say it took firefighters and bridge crew workers 10 hours to get the conflagration under control. Five first responders suffered minor injuries.
Two of the southbound lanes of the Throgs Neck Bridge have since been reopened, but officials say no trucks are allowed on the bridge until further damage assessment is done.
