On Wednesday morning, NYC Police Commissioner Jessica S. Tisch swore in Timothy Cardinal Dolan, the retired archbishop of New York, and Reverend A.R. Bernard as the NYPD's co-chief chaplains.

The two will begin serving in part-time leadership, overseeing the NYPD chaplains.

Commissioner Tisch announced the appointments earlier this month, following the passing of longtime Chief Chaplain Alvin Kass last year.

Kass served 60 years and was one of the longest-serving employees.
