Christmas may be months away, but it is never too early to give Santa a head start on holiday wishes.

The United States Postal Service has started its Operation Santa program, accepting letters to the North Pole through Dec. 5.

This is the 114th year of the program, which aims to help children and families nationwide receive holiday gifts.

Operation Santa also offers letter adoption. Adopters can sign up beginning Nov. 2 to help fulfill wishes in letters sent to Santa. They can choose a favorite letter and help fulfill the wish by purchasing and shipping a gift by Dec. 12.

To send a letter or sign up to adopt one, visit uspsoperationsanta.com.
