The U.S. Open is upon us, which means that top tennis talent will be descending upon Flushing Meadows Park to compete for some serious clout.
Taylor Fritz is America’s top ranked male tennis player. He’s a California guy at heart, but he’s pumped to be playing in the Big Apple.
Fritz greeted and posed with fans at the Vitamin Shoppe in Midtown ahead of his first U.S. Open match next week against Steve Johnson.
The 25-year-old has been playing tennis for more than two decades.  His hard work has paid off.
In 2021, he became the top ranked male singles player in the United States and the one to watch. Fritz is originally from San Diego, California and splits his time between Los Angeles and Miami, but he says playing in New York City adds oomph to his game.
“We play a lot of big events all year and obviously being an American, the U.S. Open has a bit of that added extra importance to it,” Fritz told News 12 New York. “I always feel like I've handled the pressure well and I kind of let the moment, the opportunity motivate me to play even better.”
Catch Fritz and other top talent at the U.S. Open in Flushing Meadows Park through Sept. 10.
