Millions of Americans are hitting the road and taking to the skies for Labor Day weekend, and New York City is one of the top domestic destinations.
Hotels and car rentals are cheaper than last year, and gas prices in the city are averaging $3.17 a gallon.
AAA advises drivers to plan ahead to avoid delays. On Friday, the heaviest traffic is expected from noon to 8 p.m. Saturday will be busiest between 10 a.m. and 6 p.m.
In Brooklyn, congestion is also expected to be heavier because of the West Indian American Day Parade on Eastern Parkway, which draws large crowds every year.
