Getting in shape is a popular New Year's resolution for many people, and trainers are giving their tips on how to do it.
Trainer Franck Juste at Crunch in Park Slope says exercise is the key to getting healthy and staying fit.
Juste says people should make their goals more realistic by breaking them down. For example, someone who wants to lose 10 pounds should first focus on the first five pounds. After getting that weight off, they are usually even more motivated to get the next five off.
Juste also says the most calories can be burned by doing high intensity interval training, or HIIT. The training is comprised of short bursts of intense training followed by short breaks.
While exercise is important, it is only half of the weight loss battle. Juste says people also need to be mindful of what they put on their plates.
Juste recommends leafy greens, tomatoes, and proteins for people who are looking to get fit.
