The Gun Violence Memorial Project was at the Brooklyn Navy Yard Saturday to honor the lives and narratives of the many lives lost to gun violence.
Hosted by the Melquain Jatelle Anderson Foundation, the memorial project travels from state to state, collecting memorabilia that represents the lives lost due to gun violence.
Families who have lost their loved ones to gun violence were encouraged to bring objects of significance that tell their loved one's story.
Those objects will be placed in glass boxes and brought back to D.C. to be displayed at the National Memorial Museum.
The project has collected more than 100 boxes in New York state.
The exhibit will be on display in the National Memorial Museum until September 2022.
