Two Brooklyn boys were shot early Friday morning when suspects in a black van sprayed bullets at a group of kids standing near Manhattan Avenue, according to police.
The 4 a.m. shooting wasn't the first of the morning in the courtyard behind 30 Manhattan Ave. An earlier shooting that took place at 2 a.m. didn't injure anyone, but sent kids scrambling back home, police say.
Hours later, witnesses who returned to the courtyard say gunmen in a black minivan pulled open the vehicle's sliding door and fired bullets into a group of kids at the popular hangout.
Bullets hit 16-year-old Laqwan Tucker in his left arm and left leg. 12-year-old Malik Johnson was hit in the left ankle.
Johnson's sister tells News 12 Brooklyn that both boys are doing well.
Neighbors say the kids shouldn't have roamed outside in the courtyard at the late hour.
"Summertime - they just want to hang out, and [they] think they're grownups," says Anwar Hassan, a neighborhood father.
Police say they haven't made any arrests.
