At the end of the school year, the PSAL hands out awards in every sport to top athletes who meet the dual criteria for top play on the field and outstanding achievement in the classroom. This year, two Bronx students were recipients. At a ceremony held at St. Francis College, Lehman High School quarterback Roberto Deleon won the top honors for all football players in the city. He led Lehman to the city title game last year. Deleon will attend Dean College in the fall. Bronx Science fencer Matthew Taylor won the award for his sport. He only lost one match out of 15 during the school year. Taylor is headed to Rice University in the fall.
