Some Bronx residents looking to mail a package or buy a book of stamps say they're waiting in line for almost two hours at the Fordham Post Office.
Both customers and workers are frustrated at what union representatives call understaffing at the 188th Street post office. Some workers complain that the employee shortage is so bad that they have no coffee or lunch breaks and are forced to work on days off.
Union representatives said they had a meeting last week with post office officials to discuss the problems. The union said the meeting didn't go well. According to the union, the post office claims that the problem is due to too many people calling in sick. The workers, though, say that employers hassle them every time they do take a sick day.
News 12 The Bronx reached out to the United States Postal Service for comment, but has not received a response.
