Dozens of people congregated at Union Square Thursday to demand change and call for an end to gun violence following the mass shooting in Texas.
Demonstrators are demanding action from the government on a local, state and federal level. Church leaders, poets, Public Advocate Jumaane Williams and Moms Demand Action spoke at the rally, as well as several local activist groups.
This comes just a few hours after a rally in Foley Square held earlier Thursday calling for similar action to end gun violence.
"We need gun reform, we need it now," said Maria Mejia, from the Mexican Women Coalition in New York. "We need everyone that is in charge to make a difference."
