Residents in the University Heights area have been complaining about the amount of trash that is piled up along a neighborhood walkway, saying sanitation trucks have not been around for months.

The sidewalk along Bailey Avenue is filled with trash, making residents have to cross the street.

Rachel Bradshaw, who lives down the block in the Fordham Hill Owners Corporation, says she's tried calling 311 to get the Department of Sanitation to clean the street, but to no avail.

"At this point it's a health hazard, we can't use the pandemic as an excuse as to why sanitation is not cleaning it at least on a semi-regular schedule...it's a matter of neglect on the part of the Department of Sanitation," said Bradshaw.

News 12 reached out to DSNY who said this avenue is on their radar and is scheduled to be addressed Thursday by their cleaning unit.
