The U.S. Attorney's Office is asking a federal judge to revoke the bail for former state Sen. Pedro Espada Jr.
Prosecutors claim Espada tapped into Soundview Health Clinic cash even after his conviction for pocketing money from the health network. According to court papers, Espada's relatives secretly sold medical equipment and its remaining assets to another clinic before splitting up the profits among family members, lawyers and companies controlled by Espada.
The alleged actions violate the conditions of his release, which barred him from running the health network. Espada, who is appealing his conviction, has a hearing set for this Friday.
