A new affordable apartment building called "Utica Place" opened its doors in Crown Heights Monday.
Once fully occupied, every unit at the complex will be rented to low-income New York residents, with nearly a third of the units reserved for veterans. The facility will also have veteran support services.
The 12-story building located on Lincoln Place has units ranging from studios for $500 a month to three-bedroom apartments for just under $1,200.
The city already held a lottery for the units and they received more than 38,000 applications.
Utica Place cost $26.5 million to build, with the money coming from both the public and private sectors.
