Jateik Reed, the victim in an alleged excessive force arrest by the NYPD, appeared in court today for a preliminary hearing over charges of robbery and assault on a police officer.
The short hearing concluded with both prosecution and defense attorneys agreeing to send the accusations to a grand jury to see if they will issue an indictment against Reed.
Reed's family is planning on filing a civil suit against the NYPD. Cell phone video of Reed's arrest appears to show six NYPD officers using excessive force.
The judge set Reed's bail at $15,000 for the robbery charges but only at $1 for the assault charge, citing the video of his arrest having already been released. Reed is due back in court on Feb 24.
