Three Brooklyn men announced Thursday they are suing the city after they were arrested for videotaping police officers in action.

The Center for Constitutional Rights is filing the suit on behalf of Lumumba Bandele, Dasaw Floyd and Djibril Toure, of the Malcolm X Grassroots Movement organization. The men say they were peacefully videotaping cops on February 9, 2005 in Bedford-Stuyvesant when officers arrested them.

Charges were later dropped, but the men claim they were falsely imprisoned and are seeking financial damages from the city.

"[The] NYPD does not welcome our patrols, we don't welcome harassment. We don't welcome killings. We are asserting our human rights," Bandele said. The plaintiffs say their work is crucial in keeping police brutality and racial profiling at bay.

The city's law department is reviewing the case. News 12 Brooklyn is awaiting comment from the NYPD.
