Police have released surveillance video of a woman fighting off a rape attempt near Prospect Park.
According to police, it happened on 16th Street in Windsor Terrace just after 3 a.m. Sunday.
The video shows a man approach the woman from behind. Police say he lifted up her dress and pulled on her underwear, knocking her to the ground as she continuously fought back. The video shows the man hitting her multiple times, trying to sexually assault her before giving up and fleeing down 16th Street.
Investigators describe the man as between 20 and 30 years old with curly black hair. They say he appears to be approximately 5 feet 11 inches tall and 180 pounds.
A neighbor says he heard the scuffle and ran outside, but the woman had fought off the attacker and already called 911.
Police say the victim refused medical attention at the scene.
Anyone who recognizes the man in the video is asked to call police.
