Video shows box truck leaving scene of fatal motorcycle crash that killed off-duty officer

Police arrested 30-year-old Carlos Almanazar Toribio in connection to the incident.

News 12 obtained video showing a box truck leaving the scene of a motorcycle crash that killed an off-duty officer on the BQE.
The video shows the box truck driving away, leaving behind a bike on fire on the side of the expressway. The off-duty officer was knocked off his bike some yards away and the truck kept going with the bike trapped under its wheels.
Police arrested 30-year-old Carlos Almanazar Toribio in connection to the incident. He is charged with leaving the scene of an accident resulting in death, operating an unregistered vehicle and having no license plate.
The incident happened before 8:30 a.m. on Wednesday. The 30-year-old officer was riding a Yamaha motorcycle going westbound when he was struck by a box truck.
He was taken to NYU Langone Hospital-Brooklyn where he was pronounced dead.
The NYPD's Highway Collision Investigation Squad continues to investigate.
