The family of a Brooklyn rapper who was fatally shot overnight in Queens held a vigil outside the lounge where he was killed.
Officials say the rapper known as Hollywood Play was shot dead outside the Tavern Lounge on Jamaica Avenue around 3 a.m.
They say the rapper was shot in the neck and leg and was rushed to Jamaica Hospital, but could not be saved.
The 35-year-old musician had a large following and had links to Hot 97 personality DJ Magic.
Hollywood Play, whose real name was Frank Snyder, is being remembered as a devoted father who often gave back to the community.
"My son was a good to everybody and he wasn't a bad person," said Debra Snyder, the victim's mother. "For them to do this to him was very bad. I just want to know why--and who did this to my child."
News 12 interviewed the rapper in 2015 at a school donation event, where his generous nature was on display.
"I could give to them, they could give to somebody and they could keep that going and make the world a better place," Hollywood Play told News 12 at the time.
Police say they currently have no suspects in the case and the investigation is ongoing.
