A vigil was held on Saturday to honor MTA train operator Garrett Goble one year after he was killed by an alleged arson fire.
Loved ones and colleagues gathered outside the station where the train Goble was operating pulled in and was engulfed in flames.
Goble's mother thanked everyone who attended the vigil for their support through the difficult year.
"It means a lot to me," she says. "They have a very thankless job."
Colleagues say they promise to never forget Goble and they hope his death will lead to more protection for MTA workers.
The NYPD arrested 50-year-old Nathaniel Avinger in December and charged him with murder.
