Scuba divers from around the world dove head first into the third annual Orchard Beach cleanup on Sunday.
Volunteers collected more than 2,000 pounds of garbage from the wetlands to the boardwalk in an effort to make City Island safer for beachgoers, animals and the environment.
Organizers say they have a number of other cleanup events in the works for the summer months.
