A summit was held at the Barataria Gallery in Prospect Heights Sunday to further conversations brought on by Disney and Marvel's hit Black Panther.
Organizers of the Wakanda Summit say after the movie was released, they saw many postings on Facebook posing important questions about the film and what it means to the black community.
Their event gave community members a chance to have the discussion face-to-face, during which they talked about the film, its characters, what it means to the community, cultural appropriation, cultural artifacts and even their personal experiences given each of their own backgrounds.
