Thursday will be warmer with increasing humidity. It will be mainly dry during the daytime hours for any BBQs, cookouts or outdoor activities. However, there is an isolated pop-up storm possible Thursday evening. This may disrupt any firework displays.
NEXT: Friday will feature more clouds than sun and a few spot showers/storms. Not everyone will see it all at once. We have a better chance of seeing showers and thunderstorms Saturday afternoon into the evening. These storms will be more widespread. Stormy and muggy weather takes us into the extended holiday weekend. Saturday looks to be the wetter day, with Sunday being hotter and mainly dry. It will feel like the low- to mid-90s this weekend.
HURRICANE UPDATE: Hurricane Beryl is expected to weaken to a major Category 3 hurricane later today, but it will bring a dangerous threat to Jamaica and the Cayman Islands tonight into Friday morning. It will continue to weaken as it moves toward the Yucatan Peninsula on Friday. Primary concerns are devastating hurricane-force winds, life-threatening storm surge and life-threatening flash flooding for Jamaica, the Cayman Islands and southern Hispaniola. Stay tuned for updates as it makes its closest approach to Jamaica this evening.
TONIGHT: A few clouds, increasingly more humid. Lows near 71.
FOURTH OF JULY: Partly-to-mostly cloudy. Hot and humid. Highs up to 87, feels like 90+. Most BBQs are good to go, especially earlier. Passing t-storms are likely after 3PM.
There will be two rounds, the first likely between 3 and 6 p.m., then a second round between 9 p.m. and midnight. If that exact timing holds, Macy's fireworks are able to go, but Coney Island fireworks will be a nail-biter. Lows near 74.
FRIDAY: An improving forecast. Partly cloudy with a chance of late-day pop-up showers and thunderstorms, mainly between 6PM and midnight. Highs near 88, feels-like 90+ again. Lows near 75. SATURDAY: Partly cloudy, hot and very humid. A chance of strong-to-severe storms late. Highs near 89, feels-like 95+. Lows near 76.
SUNDAY: Mostly sunny, hot and very humid. The driest day of the extended holiday weekend. Highs up to 91, feeling like 95. Lows near 75. EARLY NEXT WEEK: Still very warm and humid, with t-storm chances returning Tuesday. Highs in the upper 80s. Lows in the low 70s.
ALSO: in the tropics, Hurricane Beryl is directly impacting the southern coast of Jamaica this evening as a powerful Category 3 hurricane. The Cayman Islands are next, followed by the Yucatan coast of Mexico, near Tulum/Cozumel Friday. Beryl's last landfall is likely near Brownsville, Texas on Sunday/Monday.
