Water services have been restored following the massive sinkhole that opened up in Sunset Park.
The gaping hole at 64th Street and Fifth Avenue is estimated to be about 25 feet deep and 30 feet wide.
The block remains mostly closed in both directions for repairs, although there is pedestrian access on one side of Fifth Avenue. NYPD and DOT officials have been allowing buses to pass, but not cars.
According to the Department of Environmental Protection, the sinkhole was caused by a water main break. Water had to be shut off in the area for a time because of the severity of the damage.
The hole is large enough to contain the water for four Olympic-sized swimming pools, according to estimates. Crews have begun dumping sand into the hole in the repair effort.
Repairs may take weeks, according to officials.
