At the beginning of the coronavirus pandemic, a Throgs Neck restaurant made a promise to keep its doors open no matter what. Now, more than nine months later, that’s required a lot of reinventing along the way.
A strong mentality is what’s keeping Brewski’s Bar and Grill open in the Bronx.
Owner Brian Torressen said he made a commitment to keep all 40 staff members at the restaurant employed.
With no indoor dining allowed in New York City at the moment, the team got creative.
They expanded their hours and menu to pour out a new kind of cold brew--sourced from other small businesses, alongside some early morning eats.
But the results of the coronavirus pandemic are still being felt, and Torressen is calling on elected officials to act.
“Now more than ever, we need you to lead and help out our industry,” said Torressen.
