A West Hempstead woman was charged Wednesday in a fatal crash that killed two teenagers in October 2021.

Nyla Frazier, 19, was allegedly driving in excess of 100 mph on Westminster Road in the accident that killed her friends.

Curtis Caesar, who was 19, and his girlfriend Amanda Arguinzoni, who was 17, were the passengers in Frazier's car.

Caesar's mother, Nadia Wynter-Baylis, was crying outside the courtroom remembering her son.

"Every time I close my eyes, I see him," Wynter-Baylis says. "I was not supposed to bury my son - he was supposed to bury me."

Nassau District Attorney Anne Donnelly says Frazier lost control of her BMW X3 and crashed into a parked dump truck. The car then flipped and Caesar and Arguinzoni were ejected from it.

Frazier is facing several charges including manslaughter and assault in the second degree.

She pleaded not guilty.

Her lawyer, Marc Gann, said that the crash "is a tragedy all around no matter what side you are on."

Frazier was ordered to surrender her license and passport. She was released on a $100,000 bond.

Her return court date was supposed to be on Sept. 6, but when the date was mentioned in court Wynter-Baylis became emotional because that would have been her son's 20th birthday.

The court date was moved to Sept. 9.

If convicted, Frazier faces five to 15 years behind bars.
