A beloved New York City tradition makes a comeback with the public inflation of balloons today for this year’s 95th Annual Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade.
If excitement could fill the balloons than they would already be in the air! Passersby have been walking up and down the block by Central Park over the past few hours anxiously waiting for their favorite characters to take shape. Some of the favorites seen so far are Snoopy and Baby Yoda, but there's a lot more on the way. After a smaller production last year, neighbors are happy to get back to the traditional Thanksgiving Day Parade we all know and love.
This year, Ronold McDonald, Chase from Paw Patrol and the Boss Baby are some of the 15 giant character balloons that will fly through the air. That’s in addition to the 28 floats, and 10 marching bands. Carrie Underwood, Kelly Rowland and even characters from Sesame Street are just some of the celebrities joining in the mix during the parade.
All the festivities will start in less than 24 hours. The parade kicks off at Central Park West and 77th Street at 9 a.m. From there, it is moves to Columbus Circle traveling down Central Park South, moving through 6th Avenue to West 34th Street, and finally ending at 7th Avenue in front of Macy’s in Herald Square.
Everyone participating in the parade will be vaccinated and while spectators are excited to have a good time, they are also conscious about staying safe and healthy.
