? A wheelchair-bound Crown Heights man says his movement is further restricted by his building?s broken elevator, but not for long.
Rodney Thompson says the landlord at 1307 Pacific St. has offered to relocate him to another apartment until the elevator is fixed. Thompson says it has been broken for more than two months, forcing him to use a rope to pull his wheelchair up and down the steps. Elderly and other disabled residents have also expressed outrage over the repair delay. The landlord says he had a hard time finding the replacement part, but he expects the elevator to be fixed by the middle of May.
Councilman Albert Vann (D-Brooklyn) feels the wait is unacceptable. Vann says he is working with the Department of Homeless Services to find an apartment for Thompson if the landlord?s promises fall through.
