A widespread blackout was reported Wednesday night at the Spring Creek Towers, formerly known as Starrett City.
According to EMS, there were no reports of any tenants trapped inside elevators.
As of 10 p.m. Wednesday, thousands of tenants were still in the dark.
Dozens of FDNY crews and emergency service vehicles were on the scene.
The East New York complex is made up of 46 apartment buildings.
There was no word on what caused the blackout.
