Some students at I.S. 318K are addressing major social issues in their communities through art.
The students made their tabletop artwork as part of LEAP's Public Art Program. The citywide initiative is called "A View from the Lunchroom: Students Bringing Issues to the Table." Topics covered include pollution and domestic abuse.
Students say it feels good to use their voice, believing that they can make a difference.
LEAP's public art exhibition will be in 10 parks citywide through August.
