The holiday shopping rush is in full swing, as families prepare for Christmas in just two days.
There was plenty of traffic on Monday, as shoppers flooded places like grocery stores and big box chains.
According to the National Retail Federation, 157 million consumers were expected to shop on Saturday ahead of Christmas. During those days after Saturday and Christmas Day, nearly 49.4 million expect to shop exclusively in-store, down from 52.8 million last year. The NRF says 38.2 million people plan to shop online only, up from 30.8 million in 2023.
The NRF says the leading destination where consumers plan to finish their shopping is online. Their report predicts that's where 49% of shoppers will go. But 37% still plan to shop in department stores.
