A woman appeared in court today on charges she stabbed a four-month-old baby in the head last week.
According to an eyewitness, 28-year-old Candie Hailey-Means approached the baby's mother, Eligielle Halliburton, on 165th Street last Friday. She then allegedly stabbed the baby repeatedly in the head with a sharp object. The baby is still being treated at Lincoln Hospital for bruising, a forehead laceration and a fractured skull.
Hailey-Means is facing 10 charges, including assault and endangering the welfare of a child. No decisions were made in terms of the case today, but Hailey-Means will be back in court Feb. 29 to determine if she wants to testify before a grand jury.
