A woman has been arrested in connection with the assault of a 98‑year‑old man inside a Prospect Lefferts Gardens apartment building, according to police.

The suspect has been identified as 27‑year‑old Tashara Abel.

She is charged with assault, burglary and criminal possession of a weapon.

News12 covered the story on Friday, when police were asking for the public's assistance in identifying the woman.

Police say the incident happened around 4 p.m. Thursday inside a residential building near Maple Street and Rogers Avenue.

Investigators report that the victim had just entered the building when he became involved in an argument with a woman.

The confrontation escalated, and the woman punched and kicked him before striking him with a broomstick and a metal chair.

She then left the building and headed east on Maple Street. The victim suffered minor injuries and was treated at the scene.

The incident occurred during a recent series of assaults involving older residents in Brooklyn, including separate attacks on a 72‑year‑old man in Brownsville and an 83‑year‑old woman who was slashed while walking to church.
