If you're drinking diet soda in an effort to control of your weight, you may want to think again. 
A new study focusing on people over the age of 65 shows that despite being zero calories, diet soda did not keep them from gaining weight over time. 
One doctor says that people who drink diet soda might still be overeating. The researchers agree that the study is further proof that water is always the healthiest choice. 
News 12 asked Brooklyn viewers their thoughts on the popular beverage. Some said they don't think it has any effect on whether you gain or lose weight, and others stay away from it regardless.
