Mayor Bill de Blasio is thinking about overturning the ban on keeping ferrets as pets.

"The New York Times" reported that the New York City Department of Health is urging a repeal of the rule, saying the sharp-toothed animals pose no greater risk than any other pets. News 12 Brooklyn took to the streets to see what residents have to say about the idea.

Many agreed that they think the ban should be overturned, as long as there are rules set in place to make sure the animals receive proper veterinary care. Several people said they believe ferrets are harmless and would not hurt anybody, especially if they are kept on leashes while out in public.

Others fear the animal has the potential to bite people.
